Classically trained from the age of 6 and started singing in church, grew up with jazz, fell in love with hip hop, Allison freely crosses musical boundaries . She grew up in a musical family, both of her grandmothers (Queen Davis and Margaret Semmes) playing piano and organ in jazz, blues, and classical styles in Chicago and Europe, her father, Emmanuel, playing jazz flute, piano, and conga drums, her mother, Adrienne, singing soul, jazz, and classical music, her aunt, Carol Jean, a concert cellist, and her brother, Emile, electronic musician. From this fertile soil grew a singer|songwriter|actress.
